Frozen Peaches 2024: Unveiling the New Look and the Weekly Defrost

Rishi has come along at the worst time and forced my hand. The blog has needed a visual retrofit for a while, and as you can see, Frozen Peaches now looks cooler than ever, but there’s also implications for the content. I’m in a crunch at the moment; even putting aside substantive business in my own life, when it comes to these hobbies, I’m a) finishing up the debating series by the 28th, b) planning a couple great pieces I really want to write, c) have my big secret project looming in the background and d) intend to put that out to my focus group and start on the next stage of that by the 27th.

However, there are also things that come up in the news most weeks that I’d like to comment on, but don’t want to commit to a full article about. The need for such a category of communications has become clear now that we have a great big British vote-off on our hands: with the outcome so beyond doubt and the minutiae of British electorates so beyond me, I don’t know if I’ll write a single article about the election, but I’m sure that’ll add to the volume of passing news I’d like to pass on passing thoughts on.

Therefore, I’m introducing the Weekly Defrost. The premise is incredibly simple: every time I see something during the week that gets a thought out of me, it’ll earn a few sentences in the Defrost document, and at the end of the week I’ll publish. I’ve tried and failed to meet day-based deadlines before, but I’m more confident than ever in my productivity and focus these days, and it’s in line with my general restructuring ethos of a) as much as possible, ensure my hobbies can take place around, not in place of, my major commitments, and b) spare the group chats that would otherwise have to hear my musings on that daft Willie Jackson article.

Not that that’ll be making it into this week’s defrost. Oh, no. I have plans for that.

Stay tuned for June!
